I had about a 10 minute conversation with one of the "Cardservices" scammers. The first time they didn't hang up on me and/or refer to my mother in a sexual way after I called them a scammer. He said the following:
1. He has no fear of legal repercussions. They have been doing it for 13 years and they spoof the numbers so they are almost impossible to trace.
2. He wouldn't tell me what country he was in, but it sounded like India.
3. Americans are fools for using their credit cards so much.
4. The whole idea is for them to get enough information for them to steal your identity. They have your credit card number. Either from a data breach or he said there are clerks that will memorize the number. They need the security code, your mother's maiden name, etc.
5. He knows what he is doing is wrong, but doesn't care enough to stop. Spends his money on travel and prostitutes, though he said he has a family.
6. There are 48 people working where he is. They are on a salary but get a commission.
7. He is an atheist.
8. He promised to put my phone number on the "already scammed" list so I shouldn't be getting anymore calls from them. I'll wait to see.
I can't say I made a friend today, but it was insightful.
